Riaan Vosloo

Son of a working forester and a bohemian, artistic mother, Riaan Vosloo was born in George on South Africa's Garden Route.  He studied Visual Arts in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, Majoring in painting with electives in Photography and Print Making. Riaan worked as a freelance artist, graphic designer and picture framer in George before moving to Cape Town in 1999 where he devoted himself to fine art, exhibiting widely, and sold his artworks in South Africa and the United Kingdom.

 

In 2003 he was invited to take up a teaching position and taught Visual Arts, Design, Web Design and Photography for 15 years in various high schools. After leaving teaching he secured his first Art Directing position. Riaan has worked, gained experience and skill in a wide array of creative fields, from contemporary and abstract painting and figurative drawing to set, props for theater and film, costume and graphic design, manufacturing, construction, photography and art directing. Now a full-time multi-media artist, art director, production designer and set designer, Riaan Vosloo combines magical wonder with technical skill to create exquisite sets, costumes, make-up and props - without breaking the bank!
